Our very own Blackburn Market has been recognised as one of the best in the country, as it scooped this year’s award for Best Indoor Market 2012 by The National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA).
It comes less than a year after the new state-of-the-art Market opened its doors, but traders and customers alike were not surprised by the news as they were all confident in the fact that we really do have one of the best new Markets around!
Councillor Dave Harling, executive member for regeneration, said: “We are delighted with the news and feel the award is justified as we are very proud of our fabulous new market.
“A big thank you to everyone involved including the market traders, our partner the Mall and our customers who have given us tremendous feedback.
“It is nice that our market, which is drawing thousands of visitors every week, has been recognised nationally.”
The accolade was announced at NABMA’s one-day conference in Birmingham on 26th January 2012. Blackburn Market featured heavily on the agenda at the conference and was used to illustrate best practice and an example for the future for successful markets.
